Candidate for County Commissioner
Interfaith Housing Alliance does not endorse political
candidates, but I am please to give my personal support to
Billy
Shreve.
Given the affordable housing crisis in our community, many
candidates say they will seek solutions and ensure that there is
a place for everyone to live in Frederick County. One candidate,
Billy Shreve, worked quietly for years before running for office
to help lower income members of our work force to achieve the
American Dream of home ownership.
Billy served on the County Zoning Appeals Board where he was
well informed and brought the kind of respect for people that is
needed in politics today.

The Frederick County Chamber of
Commerce Business PAC announces Republican candidate
selection for the Sept 12, 2006 Primary.
Frederick - The political action
committee (PAC) of the Frederick County Chamber of
Commerce today endorsed a slate of five Republican
Candidates for County Commissioner. Brian Duncan,
Chair of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce
Business PAC, stressed that only a Republican slate
had been endorsed for the primary election, as all
the Democratic candidates will automatically make it
through this primary. “We will re-evaluate all nine
candidates after the primary race is over – looking
to support the best slate possible for the November
7th General Election”, said Duncan.
Duncan went on further to explain that “the Primary
Election (Sept 12th) is a very important day as only
five candidates from each party (out of a large
field of 18 candidates) will be elected to move on
to the General Election.” “The Chamber PAC based our
selections on those pro-business candidates who best
supported the mission statement of the Chamber.”
Candidate selection was based on a review of the
Chamber questionnaire filled out by all the
candidates as well as the responses to questions
used at our recent Chamber forum and considerable
input from the business community. Top consideration
and support was given to those candidates who
adequately addressed such business issues as:
affordable workforce housing, job growth
opportunities, tax relief, quality public schools,
as well as those who have a plan to help solve
traffic congestion.
The slate of five includes:
Mike Cady
Charles A Jenkins
John R Lovell, Jr.
Joan McIntyre
Billy Shreve
The mission of the Frederick County Chamber of
Commerce Business PAC is to enhance the quality of
life and maintain a healthy business climate for the
benefit of the citizens of Frederick County; and to
educate candidates, the public and key opinion
leaders on key issues; by supporting or opposing
issues and candidates for public office in Maryland.
“We encourage all citizens of this County to go to
the polls and vote” said Duncan.

“This was a bigger challenge than we expected,” said Howard L. Levine, the Treasurer of the political action committee formed on the 14th of last month. “Many of the responses that we received to the traffic questionnaire we circulated to all candidates via email were impressive.”
The officers of

other sources over the internet, including
candidate websites and articles found online.
“We focused on using the internet, because be

The report covers in detail the reasoning behind their opinions with the following sections:
“We attempted to provide strong and supportive reasoning behind our endorsements; however we expect that there will be many who find fault with our work,” continued Thompson.
The PAC did not endorse candidates in every race. "We found that in some races, either we were not satisfied with the responses or there was just not enough information to pass proper judgment," added Levine. "We simply selected who we felt were best qualified, regardless of the number of available positions."
